There’s no character development (precious little is done with Aditya’s background as a prince), and pace is generated more through flashy editing (Anthony) and Imman’s background core rather than the writing – Vikram’s apprehension of Aditya is laughably simplistic. But the film looks grand, and it gets better as it goes along.
Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami revive the magic

Bogan is a fitting duel between two varying personalities; one a straightforward smart cop and the other a badass crook who uses mystic forces to live a king size life. Rides high on Arvind Swami and Jayam Ravi’s performances.
When Jayam Ravi's hero is no match for Arvind Swamy's villain

Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy have got an equal screen time and, as the film’s positive and negative forces, they complement each other very well. But, it is Arvind Swamy’s character who you are rooting for despite him being the bad guy who kills without compunction. While you are curious to know how the hero will defeat the villain, you already know that Adithya is somehow going to outfox Vikram. Arvind made his mark as a ‘chocolate boy’ during the early years of his career but he looks way cooler now playing the bad guy.
A watchable thriller

Despite an oscillating momentum in the screenplay, director Lakshman's Bogan ends up as a watchable thriller spearheaded by a sterling performance from Arvind Swami.
Bogan could have seduced more with a sharper screenplay!

Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami have rocked the floor with their towering screen presences. Hansika, on the other hand, looks bubbly and adds to the glamour quotient. Soundarajan's hard work in the cinematography department can be noted. D Imman's background music thrusts the movie upwards. But apart from ‘Damaal Dumeel’ track no other ones leaves an impact.
